The US federal government spent a record amount, more than $1.1 trillion, between October and December of last year, the first three months of fiscal year 2020, the US Treasury Department reported Monday. The government’s annual budget deficit also eclipsed $1 trillion in 2019, the first time it has done so since 2012.
