Wordle today: Here's the answer, hints for November 22

Wordle on a smartphone.

It's Tuesday, which means there's a new Wordle puzzle for you to test your brain on. And as always, we're here to offer some tips and tricks to help you figure out the solution. Our first tip: The New York Times recently added a new word list and updated the rules, so now plurals ending in S or ES will never be the solution.

If you just want to find out today's answer, you can jump to the end of this article for November 22's Wordle solution revealed. If you'd prefer to solve it yourself, keep reading for a few tips, tricks, and hints to guide you along the way.

Where did Wordle come from?

Wordle was originally created by engineer Josh Wardle as a gift for his partner. It quickly exploded in popularity, becoming a global phenomenon enjoyed by thousands of players around the world every day. Some Wordle fans even began creating alternate versions of the daily word puzzle game themselves, such as battle royale Squabble, music identification game Heardle, and variations such as Dordle and Quordle that make you guess multiple words at once

TikTok creators have even live streamed themselves playing Wordle, and the puzzle game eventually grew so big that the New York Times bought it earlier this year.

What's the best Wordle starting word?

Like determining People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive, determining the best Wordle starting word is an entirely subjective matter. However, if you enjoy being ruthlessly strategic when taking on word puzzles, we have a few ideas to help you select your opening move. One hot tip is to choose a word that has at least two different vowels in it. It wouldn't hurt to make sure it has a few common consonants as well, such as S, T, R, or N.

What happened to the Wordle archive?

The entire archive of past Wordles used to be available for you to access whenever you like, so you'd never be left without a puzzle to solve. Unfortunately it has since been taken down, which was done at the request of the New York Times according to the website's creator. From a productivity perspective, this may be for the best.

Is Wordle getting harder?

It may feel as though Wordle is getting harder, but we can assure you it isn't. However, if this news is more of a disappointment than a relief, Wordle does have a Hard Mode you can turn on if you want to up the difficulty.

Why are there two different Wordle answers some days?

Wordle's natural order dictates that there should only ever be one solution per day, however occasionally the puzzle game will allow two different collect solutions. This is because the New York Times made changes to Wordle after acquiring it, swapping out some answers for new ones.

The Times has since added its own updated word list, so this should happen even less frequently than before. To avoid any confusion, it's a good idea to refresh your browser before getting stuck into a new puzzle.
