The jet, designed by Ukraine's Antonov State Company, was previously manufactured by Aviastar-SP and in the Russian city of Ulyanovsk, and operated by the Russian airline Volga-Dnepr. In September 2015, by the order of the Ukrainian Government, "Antonov" withdrew from the joint venture between UAC and Antonov.
