Find Your WHY For Becoming A Home-Based Worker
make money Online While Enjoying Life
As defined by the United States Census Bureau, an extreme commute is a daily journey to work that takes more than 90 minutes each way. According to the bureau, about 2% of American adult workers are so-called "extreme" commuters. Not surprisingly, the number of extreme commuters in the New York, Baltimore, and Los Angeles metropolitan areas is much greater than the national average.
Midas sponsored an "America's Longest Commute" award in 2006. The winner drove 372 miles (about 4 1/2 hours) to and from work each day.
I commute an average of 140 miles a day, so I guess this makes me an. extreme commuter. I have been doing this commute for 22 years. I live in Princeton, New Jersey, and work in White Plains, New York.
Even if you are not an extreme commuter, you are probably quite familiar with congested highways, and long delays during rush hour. Even straphangers have to put up with overcrowded trains, and delays.
With environmentalists expressing concern about The Carbon Footprint, and its effects on every living thing on planet earth, working from home is an attractive way to reduce air pollution by having fewer cars on the road.
Planners of our highway networks have known for many years that building more highways and roads do not ease road congestion and pollution in that new highways quickly become congested also.
No matter how short, or long your commute is, take a moment and imagine the stress, time, gas, and tolls that being a commuter entails.
For most people, working from home represents freedom to structure their lives and time in more rewarding ways.
There are many benefits in working from home. I listed a few of those benefits below. I’m sure you can come up with your own personal list.
Whether you drive, carpool or ride a bus or train, commuting is expensive.
With the price of gasoline at an all time high, how much money could you save by not having to commute?
If you are a parent with small children, how nice would it be not to worry about babysitters, or daycare?
For people living in remote areas, working from home gives the advantage of not having to worry about access to major cities where employment is more plentiful.
Technology such as VOIP (voice over IP), skype, efax, online video, broadband cable for homes, allows the home-based worker to be fully equipped to handle any job in a competent, and professional manner.
Being a virtual worker, gives the freedom of not having to consider time zones.
People, who are disabled, and unable to work outside the home, have the opportunity to generate income.
With the Internet offering a myriad of opportunities to make a substantial income online, no wonder there has been a mushroom effect. People of all ages and economic levels are making the decision to work from home. With the first wave of baby boomers starting to retire, they will contribute to a substantial increase in home-based businesses.
There is such a proliferation of business opportunities online. How do you find the right one? I have listed a few questions that may act as a guide in deciding which home-based business is a good fit.
What are your interests or passion?
What are you good at?
How much time are you willing to devote to your business?
Is the opportunity or company reliable?
What is the payment structure of the opportunity or business?
Answering these questions should start you on the path to find the perfect home-based business.
I have started an online home-based business, part time right now, but quickly getting to the point where I will be working from home full time.
